EKU Finishes Second at Spartan Throwdown
A team from Eastern Kentucky University finished second in the Spartan Throwdown at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, on Nov. 1-2, 2014. Reprising its second-place performance at the tournament last year, the team once again went undefeated with a 7-0-1 record.
Members of the second-place team included Matt Boggs and Sean Potter, both Political Science majors from Whitesburg; Josh Lang, a Political Science major from Fort Thomas; Allie Maples, a Political Science major from Mount Sterling; Angel Spurlock, a Chemistry major from Mount Vernon; and Caleb Taylor, a Political Science major from Union. Boggs and Taylor received Outstanding Witness Awards, while Daniel Bevins, a Business major from Pikeville competing on EKU's other team, received an Outstanding Attorney Award as the top-ranked attorney in the entire tournament. Lang, Spurlock, Boggs, Potter, Maples, and Bevins are all members of the EKU Honors Program.
EKU faculty and staff working with the program include Tom Parker, Lynnette Noblitt, Kristeena (Winkler) Johnson, Brandon Williams, and Sara Zeigler.
