EKU Mock Trial Triumphs at Windy City Invitational
Eastern Kentucky University’s Mock Trial Team continued its outstanding season with a first-place finish at the Windy City Invitational held on January 17-18, 2015, at the Richard J. Daley Justice Center in Chicago, Illinois. The 28-team tournament was hosted by Northwestern University. EKU compiled a 6-1-1 record, finishing immediately ahead of its regional rivals, the University of Cincinnati and Bellarmine University.
Caleb Taylor, a political science major from Union, earned an Outstanding Attorney Award at the tournament, while Matt Boggs, a political science major from Whitesburg, was honored with an Outstanding Witness Award. Other members of the first-place team were Troy Cox, a retired Navy veteran and paralegal science major from Lexington; Josh Lang, a political science major from Fort Thomas; Allie Maples, a political science major from Mount Sterling; Sean Potter, a political science major from Whitesburg; and Angel Spurlock, a chemistry teaching major from Mount Vernon. Boggs, Lang, Maples, Potter, and Spurlock are all members of the EKU Honors Program.
EKU faculty and staff working with the program include Tom Parker, Lynnette Noblitt, Kristeena Johnson, Brandon Williams, and Sara Zeigler.
