EKU Takes Fifth Place at Arch Invitational

The EKU Mock Trial Program competed at the Arch Invitational Mock Trial Tournament, hosted by Washington University on October 19-20, 2013.  An EKU team took fifth place at the tournament, competing against teams from the University of Texas at Austin, University of Missouri -Kansas City, and Washington University (2 different teams).  Other schools participating in the tournament included St. Louis University, Middle Tennessee State University, University of Iowa, University of Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt University, University of Missouri- Columbia, and University of Texas at Dallas.

Anthony Sean Potter, political science and anthropology major and Honors Program member from Whitesburg, received an Outstanding Witness Award at the tournament.  Other members of the fifth-place squad included Matthew Boggs, political science major and Honors Program student from Whitesburg; Joshua Lang, political science major and Honors Program member from Fort Thomas; Allie Maples, Broadcasting and Electronic Media major and Honors Program member from Mount Sterling;  Damir Siahkoohi, history and political science major and Honors Program member from Irvine; Angel Spurlock, a Chemistry major and Honors Program student from Mt. Vernon; and Caleb Taylor, a political science major from Union.

B.J. McDaniel, a Psychology major from Columbus, also received an Outstanding Witness Award competing for EKU's other team at the tournament.

EKU faculty and staff working with the mock trial program include Tom Parker, Lynnette Noblitt, Kristeena (Winkler) Johnson, Brandon Williams, and Sara Zeigler.  Johnson and Williams are EKU mock trial alumni.
