2024 EKU Colonel Classic Mock Trial Invitational - Judges Needed Jan. 20-21

On Saturday, January 20, and Sunday, January 21, 2024, Eastern Kentucky University will host its annual EKU Colonel Classic Mock Trial Tournament. This invitational tournament will feature a strong field with teams from top programs across the country.

As in the past, we rely upon the support of judges, attorneys, law students, and former college mock-trial competitors to serve as volunteer judges, providing the students with essential feedback on their performances. Members of the Kentucky state bar may be eligible for up to two hours of public-speaking CLE credit for participating.

The schedule of rounds is as follows:

Saturday, January 20
Round 1: Judges arrive at 8:30 a.m., trial from 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Round 2: Judges arrive at 1:30 p.m., trial from 2:15-5:15 p.m.

Donuts and coffee will be available to judges before round 1. Lunch will be available to judges between rounds 1 and 2.

Sunday, January 21
Round 3: Judges arrive at 8:30 a.m., trial from 9 a.m.-noon
Round 4: Judges arrive at 1:30 p.m., trial from 2-5pm

Donuts and coffee will be available to judges before round 3. Lunch will be available to judges between rounds 3 and 4.

If you have questions about serving as a judge, please email Thomas Parker at thomas.parker@eku.edu. Thank you!

Please put any notes regarding round choices (e.g., if you are available for any of the four rounds but wish to judge only two).

Please specify whether you are an attorney/J.D., law student, former mock trial competitor, etc.

Please note if you are currently or recently affiliated with any of the competing schools (Bellarmine, Cincinnati, Dayton, EKU, Eastern Michigan, Furman, Georgia State, Illinois State, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Lee, Loyola-Chicago, Mississippi, Ohio University, Xavier) and the nature of that affiliation (coach, former student, parent of participant, etc.).
